Life is the most precious and universal value of humanity, one that cannot be exchanged for anything else. However, our society continues to face the heart-wrenching reality of suicide. This is more than just a personal or family tragedy; it is an urgent challenge that our community must take responsibility for and solve together.
The Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention (KFSP) is a public institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, established to foster a culture of respect for life and to implement effective suicide prevention policies.
As President, I am committed to three core principles to ensure that national policies lead to tangible changes on the ground
First, Evidence-based Scientific Implementation. We will diagnose the causes of suicide through precise data analysis and present effective prevention models
Second, Field-oriented Communication. We will listen to the diverse voices of the private and public sectors as well as local communities, serving as a reliable bridge to enhance policy effectiveness.
Third, Establishing a Tight-knit Social Safety Net. We will strengthen our life-protection system—from identifying high-risk groups to post-management—to ensure that no one is left behind.
Protecting lives is not a task that can be done alone. A society that truly respects life is realized only when all members of our community look out for one another and reach out with warmth.
KFSP will walk this path together with you.
We ask for your continued interest and support.
Thank you.
JUNG YOONSOON
President of the Korea Foundation For Suicide Prevention.
